The St. Mary’s Middle School soccer teams, coached by Mr Chan, Mr. Blofeld-Watson, and Mr. Cilio, have taken over the soccer field, showing a commitment to teamwork, that has left opponents in the dust. After matches against Nishimachi, Tokyo International School, Yokohama International School, and the British School of Tokyo, the team remains strong and is ready to overcome the obstacles ahead of them.
Although the Titans faced a tough battle against the British school of Tokyo, where the game ended in a 4-1 loss, they have demonstrated resilience and a strong passing game that focuses on collaboration rather than individual plays. “Against BST, it was a very good experience for the team to understand that we need to be more disciplined, train harder, and execute better.” Says Mr Chan while reflecting on the match.
The training sessions are designed to enhance players’ skills, tactics, and mental readiness for the challenges that are ahead of them. Mr. Chan emphasizes the importance of “mental strength” and “working as a team”, especially during tough games. This philosophy has had a big impact on creating a supportive team environment, where every player contributes to a collective effort. This approach has resulted in impressive performances and only 1 loss, creating a solid team that works together rather than relying on a single superstar.
The Titan’s success reflects their positive mindset and dedication to teamwork, making the sport truly a “team game”. As the season progresses, they are focused on their goals and are determined to win the tournament at the end of the season.
