Every day, bus drivers make it possible for students to attend St. Mary’s, and instills in them valuable lessons.
Bus driver Mr. Akimori Ogasawara has dedicated himself to working for St. Mary’s for over 30 years! He has watched numerous students attend the school, from kindergarteners to graduating seniors. He emphasizes the importance of time and the need to enjoy every moment, as it cannot be brought back.
His job is quite challenging as his it is not just driving students to St. Mary’s, but also ensuring their safety. Unlike middle and high school students, who are more independent, elementary school students need extra care and attention as they develop physical and emotional traits. His long work experience has taught him to prioritize keeping the children safe at all costs, even outside St. Mary’s.
Mr. Ogasawara encourages students to be friendly with one another and make connections. Since the bus is used for all ages, it serves as a unique environment where students can learn and grow together.
Mr. Ogasawara expects students to be on their best behavior. he explained that he appreciates those who are respectful, and he tries to teach the kids the difference between right and wrong, as it could affect their parents’ feelings. He wants to continue watching kids grow and wants students to know the bus is a unique and safe environment for everyone.
