St. Mary’s hard-working security guards ensure the safety of our students so it is important that their instructions are closely followed. Meet Mr. Saito Daisuke, a security guard who has dedicated seven years to working at St. Mary’s International School. After growing up in Fukushima he began his career with a security company and came to Tokyo—first at Seisen, and then coming to St. Mary’s.
Mr. Saito explained that working as a security guard at our school is enjoyable. He enjoys his time with the students and staff here, but he sometimes finds it challenging if students do not closely follow his, and his fellow guard’s, instructions. His concern is that students may be in danger if they not listen fully.
Mr. Saito enjoys being in Tokyo, but admits that he misses Fukushima. He was a high school student on March 11, 2011 when the earthquake and tsunami hit causing great damage and suffering. Despite the hardships, Mr. Saito explained that, he often misses the slower pace of life, and community, in his hometown to Tokyo.
