St. Mary’s has become the second-largest donor to Ishikawa prefecture, contributing nearly ¥1,800,000 to aid recovery efforts after severe flooding and earthquakes hit the area. The elementary students raised ¥160,000 in the month of May and an additional ¥142,006 in September. This is possible through the student-led initiative fundraiser by the school’s elementary student council and students.
With donations collected on Free Dress Days and through the Sharing Box, St. Mary’s has surpassed expectations, and is only behind a major television company that donated ¥2,000,000. The student council’s dedication to supporting local communities has significantly impacted the Red Cross which has certainly helped many people.
“Our goal is to raise as much awareness and money as possible,” said the elementary assistant principal Mr. Myers, emphasizing the importance of community support and the power of student-driven action.
St. Mary’s efforts to aid Ishikawa prefecture highlight the school’s commitment to making a positive difference, demonstrating that even small actions can contribute to meaningful change.
