On Thursday, November 21st, the 7th graders embarked on an exciting 14-kilometer walk. The students collected sponsors from family members and friends to support those still affected by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. All funds raised were donated to the Asahigaoka orphanage in Kesenuma. Special thanks to Mr.Nicholson for sharing information on the G7 walkathon.
The students left school after 1st period and embarked on a 14km walking trip from Futakotamagawa to Noborito. The walkathon “gave students a chance to bond while helping others. It also supported the community by raising money for orphanages and making a difference in children’s lives”. Mr.Nicholson said.
During lunch, students enjoyed a nice picnic and had a great opportunity to bond and socialize. Mr.Lamb organized a fun cricket game by the river. Despite the rain and everyone getting wet, “no one complained, and everyone felt a sense of accomplishment by the end”.
Overall, the walkathon was a great day for students and teachers to bond with each other, and to contribute to society to help those in need.
