The St. Mary’s Varsity Basketball had a rewarding season. On February 3rd, the St. Mary’s Varsity Basketball Team travelled to Kinnick High School, a base school, to compete in the Basketball Far East tournament. Schools from Japan, Korea and Thailand participated in the tournament. The list of schools : The American School Of Bangkok Green Valley, Kadena, Humphreys, Kubasaki, St. Mary’s, American School in Japan and Kinnick.


St. Mary’s progressed to the Championships, which was against Kinnick High School. The game was intense with both teams tied at 69 points at the last 3 minutes of the game. With less than 3 minutes on the buzzer, Kinnick High School managed to score 7 more points while St. Mary’s only scored 1 more point, ending the game with 76 to 70. Despite the tough battle, St. Mary’s lost which placed them 2nd in the tournament.
Although the loss was really close and frustrating, St. Mary’s Varsity Basketball team had a good and tough season. Ryogo O. (’25) was awarded the 3 point champion, and Towa M. (’25), Ren N. (’26) and Drake H. (’27) were chosen as the St. Mary’s All Star. Finally, Drake H. (’27) was elected as the offensive MVP in the tournament. Congratulations to the St. Mary’s Varsity Basketball team on placing 2nd and to the individuals who won awards!
