A new essay contest, the Bright Future Essay Contest, has been launched in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Japan-Laos relations. Organized with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the contest invites junior high and high school students to reflect on education in developing countries. The deadline for submissions is March 31st.
The contest challenges students to think critically about international education and how they can help make a difference in the world. Students are asked to compose an essay of at least 500 words in English or Japanese with the question, “What can we do for children who lack education?” Essays should be submitted via Google Forms.
The grand prize winner will receive a certificate and the opportunity to go to Laos in June with the contest team. The trip allows students to see the impact of education firsthand. The participant’s travel costs will be covered, but parents who join them will be at their own expense.
All participants will receive a participation prize. The trip planned for Laos will be from June 23rd to June 27th.
Participants can contact the organizers at [email protected] in case of any queries. The competition is organized to ensure youth engagement in global education issues and introduce sustainable change.
