St. Mary’s Internaltional Baccalaureate Diploma Program(IBDP)Visual Arts exhibition, Perspectives, opened on March 11th. This is a celebration of IB Visual Arts students‘ artistic investigation and development. The annual exhibition gave the students the opportunity to present their work, the effect of two years of investigation, creativity, and developing concepts. Every piece of artwork was an individual interpretation of the theme, the student‘s own artistic voice and vision of the world as they saw it.

One standout artist, Alessandro Cognetti, explored the theme of transformation in his exhibition. “Utilizing various symbols throughout my exhibition, I chose to explore the theme of transformation as it has been an inevitable part of my life that has shaped who I am and will continue to shape who I will become,” he explained. His work visually represents the unpredictable and chaotic nature of change, incorporating shifting color palettes and distortions of familiar forms. “Each artwork highlights how change and the transformation that occurs is never linear but rather something unpredictable and chaotic,” he stated, emphasizing the deeply personal nature of his artistic journey.
The exhibition also highlighted the achievements of students who plan to pursue art at the university level. Henrie Mancia, Kazuto Maeda, Alssandro Cognetti, and Franklin Richter have all been accepted into prestigious university programs, demonstrating how the IB Visual Arts curriculum has helped them develop portfolios strong enough for further studies
in the arts. Their success underscores the role of the program in fostering artistic talent and opening future opportunities.
Perspectives is a reflection of the creativity and work ethic of IB Visual Arts students from St. Mary’s. Through their artwork, they challenged people to look again at the world around them, demonstrating that art remains a powerful means of self-expression and communication.
