The tri-school musical, Shrek, was a huge success! The entire cast, crew, band, and other staff members dedicated months of hard work to deliver 3 days of magic and joy. Special thanks to Ms.Durrett, the production manager and assistant director of Shrek the Musical, for sharing additional insights and post-musical information.
“It was by far the most ambitious production, and I could not be more proud of the students and faculty, who made the show possible”. Ms.Durret explained that this year’s musical is the first time that all of the tickets sold out before the show. She also explained that they started preparing for this musical exactly a year before now (the team is already preparing for next year’s musical!), and over 100 students were involved in making the show possible. She also explained that this musical was the most technically challenging in terms of the props, costumes, and other elements of the musical. Not only was she impressed by the amazing vocal and acting skills of the cast members, but she was also amazed by the phenomenal performance of the pit orchestra. From the breathtakingly realistic and massive props to the beautiful, harmonious melodies of the pit orchestra, the show brought a sense of realism and magic to the audience. For the first time, Shrek and other characters were double-cast, bringing a different and unique atmosphere to the evening and matinee show. For the evening show Machi Sakurai (’25) Played Shrek for the evening show, and Yotaro Koya (’25) played Shrek for the matinee show.
In conclusion, Shrek was an amazing achievement for all the cast, crew, faculty, and staff who were involved in making the show possible. Their dedication and months of hard work made a show filled with magic, laughter, and joy possible. One again, a round of applause for everyone involved in the musical!
