The St. Mary’s Carnival most exciting event of the school year is coming just around the corner–Saturday, May 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. rain or shine! Held in the school’s parking lot, tennis courts, and field, this year’s Carnival carries the theme “70 Years Strong: One Community, Endless Bonds” to celebrate the school’s 70th anniversary. Organized by the St. Mary’s Parent Association (SMPA), with support from the school, the carnival brings together students, families, alumni, and friends from all over Tokyo, for a fun-filled day of food, games, and music.

The Carnival is more than just a good time, it is the school’s largest annual fundraiser, with all revenue going straight to student development. “This includes funding for school trips, uniforms, club activities, sustainability initiatives, and more,” Marketing Director Auliya Stevens explained. She elaborated that it is an important way for the community to give back while at the same time enjoying a festive atmosphere. Whether you’re in kindergarten or an alumnus from decades ago or family or friends, Carnival is a time for everyone to reconnect and show their school spirit.
This year’s carnival will feature various amounts of booths, including food stalls such as Australia/New Zealand, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Latin America, the Philippines, Taiwan, and the USA. School clubs and teams from Robotics to Wrestling will also host booths. Those looking for bargains may want to visit the popular “Used Book Booth.” Visitors can also play carnival games, or enter the SMPA raffle for a chance to win some big prizes.
The SMPA is regularly updating its official Carnival webpage with new info, including the booth map, entertainment schedule, and raffle prize list https://sites.google.com/smis.ac.jp/stmaryscarnival. With many things to do, this year’s Carnival is one for the history books and a perfect way to honor the school’s legacy of 70 years of service.
