On Thursday, April 9, St. Mary’s International School hosted the second monthly joint trial with International School of Sacred Heart’s Mock Trial Club. The case study was on the New State of Justice vs Adrian Vega, on the charge of felony hit and run. The attorneys for prosecution (ISSH) were as follows: Cassie as opening attorney and direct examination attorney and Akshaya as cross and closing attorney. The attorneys for defense (SMIS) were as follows: Chirag Viswanathan (‘28) as opening attorney, Sosuke Bowers (‘27) and Louis Wheale (‘28) as direct examination attorney, Peter Seki (‘28) as cross examination attorney, and Woojin Choi (‘26) as closing attorney.
The case had a number of clashing points to watch between the prosecution and defense. At the end, the defense came victorious with the juries (Mr. Fox and Ms. Francisco) giving a verdict of Adrian Vega as guilty and the judges, Nadia Akashi (‘27) and SJ Lee (‘27) adhering to it, sentencing a final verdict of 4 years in state prison.
