
At the highly anticipated Far East Track and Field Tournament held at Yokota on May 21–22, student-athletes from across the region gathered to test their limits in intense competition. Athletes from Seisen, American School in Japan, Christian Academy in Japan and base schools from Japan and Korea participated.
Among them was Mughil R.K (’26), who delivered a memorable performance in the distance events. In a thrilling 1600m race, Mughil RK (’26) led the pack by an impressive 30 to 50 meters for much of the competition, showing both endurance and tactical strength. Unfortunately, in the final stretch, he was outkicked by a surge of challengers and finished 6th overall. Despite the setback, his tenacity and bold front-running were praised by spectators and competitors alike.
Mughil RK (’26) didn’t stop there. He came back strong in the 3200-meter event, determined to leave his mark. Dominating his heat with grit and consistency, he crossed the line first in his group and secured a 5th-place overall finish and earned a coveted ribbon for placing in the top eight. His strategic pacing and mental toughness stood out, solidifying his position as one of the top long-distance runners at the meet.
Franklin R. (’25) also showed promise, pushing hard in his events and finishing in the top ten, narrowly missing a spot in the top eight. Though he didn’t place, his performance was marked by a personal record, a feat shared by all the runners from their team. Every athlete gave their best, demonstrating the kind of determination and sportsmanship that defines the spirit of the Far East Tournament. The experience not only highlighted individual achievements but also reflected the heart and dedication of a team committed to constant growth.
