This year we welcome Mr. Brown a new teacher at St. Mary’s. Mr. Brown is originally from New York but lived in Tokyo previously and now teaches 6th grade Social Studies. He has returned to Tokyo from Singapore to teach at St Mary’s.
Mr. Brown brings a new perspective to the school. He attended ASIJ through high school and understands the perspective of an international school student in Japan not originally from Japan.
He says his favorite thing so far about the students is “how they are academically capable and eager to learn.” He also thinks the students are well disciplined and was surprised how organized they are as middle schoolers. Although he teaches Social Studies his favorite place in the school is not the classroom but the soccer field because he enjoys playing soccer.

He chose to come to St. Mary’s because he knew the school previously, and likes the rich history. He also likes how the school cares about extracurriculars. He also likes the area and the surrounding neighborhood of the school.
He says his favorite part of teaching is building relationships. He enjoys getting to know the many different faces at St. Mary’s. If you see him around maybe stop and say hi.
