This year St. Mary’s is welcoming a new librarian to the library team Mr. Rose, who brings over 17 years of International School experience coming from the International School of Stuttgart in Germany, and a clear vision for the future of the library. When asked about his goals, he shared, “I want the library to be a welcoming place where students and faculty feel comfortable.”
Before joining St. Mary’s, Mr. Rose spent eight years at Saint Maur International School in Yokohama working as an assistant librarian and a middle & high school librarian & library coordinator at an international school in Stuttgart in Germany for 9 years. His path into becoming a librarian began during his time in college where he was terrible at researching and the librarians helped him push through and then eventually he got hired there as a reference assistant where he regularly helped students with their projects.
He also aims to expand how the physical library spaces are used. His vision for the library emphasizes supporting students across five key areas: reading, research, studying, collaboration, and active engagement through clubs and activities. By fostering these opportunities, he hopes to create a space that is both dynamic and supportive of student growth, as Mr. Rose stated “A library should be more than just a quiet study spot it should be a place where students can learn, create, and grow together.”
With his experience and passion for guiding students, Mr. Rose is eager to open a new chapter for the St. Mary’s library and ensure it continues to grow as the heart of the school.
