iPhone 17, which was released at September 19th, has been very popular across many different places, often crowding Apple stores and being sold out. There are, however, debates about the improvements compared to previous generations, and if the upgrade is worthwhile despite its high price tag.
The poll hosted on the previous article has ended, and the result reflects St Mary’s student’s opinion on iPhone 17, which is shown here:
Would you upgrade to the new iPhone 17 and why?
Yes – because of its new features (40%)
Yes – because my phone is old (20%)
No – because it’s too expensive (20%)
No – because I’m satisfied with my current one (20%)
The result reveals divided perspective among St. Mary’s students. While a clear majority of 60% expressed willingness to upgrade, an equally significant 40% felt the upgrade was unnecessary, with cost and satisfaction playing key roles.
Interestingly, several students mentioned that the iPhone 17’s standout in improvements, such as its enhanced camera system and longer battery life, were appealing but not essential. Others highlighted that with reliable older models still performing well, there’s little need to spend a large sum of money on the newest release. Overall, the survey reflects how the new iPhone is attractive to students because of new features, however it is not necessary for students who does not value camera features.
