Royal Ghost Evolutions and Guards Evolution (Clash Royale)
The October update of Clash Royale delivers some of the biggest shifts in recent memory. Headlining the patch are two new Evolutions: the Royal Ghost and Skeleton Army. The Royal Ghost now summons two “Souldiers,” while Skeleton Army gains General Gerry, a commander unit who grants invisibility and invulnerability.
The Champion system has also been completely reworked. Players can now cycle multiple Champions in a deck, but only the most recently placed Champion retains their ability. “It’s a whole new skill check,” Ryley, a top competitive player wrote. “You need to think three moves ahead instead of just spamming your ability.”
Beyond new mechanics, the update introduces Lucky Chests—replacing Lucky Drops—and more than 40 balance changes. Seasonal Lucky Chests guarantee themed rewards, while smaller tweaks rebalance Evolutions that had grown too dominant.
Overall, this patch feels like a turning point. The Evolutions add creativity, the Champion rework raises the skill ceiling, and Lucky Chests refresh progression. It’s ambitious, disruptive, and sure to spark debate. As Jynxi, a popular Clash Royale streamer, summed it up: “Love it or hate it, Clash Royale isn’t standing still.”
