Professor Jonathan McCaskill, a knowledgable law professor from Temple University and a legal advisor for notable organisations such as the United Nations has come to St. Mary’s to advise the Mock Trial Club. A savoured legal practitioner, Mr. Jonathan McCaskill specialises in human rights and criminal law, studying political sciences and law in the University of North Carolina and University of Wisconsin respectively.
“I think he just wants to pass on his interest in the law and help nurture people that might be interested in pursuing that” Mr. Douglas stated when asked about why he wanted to advise Mock Trial. Though he specialises in teaching undergraduates, Mr. McCaskill’s excitement for teaching, or advising in this case, law has not been dwindled at all when dealing with younger students, infecting his students with his passion.
In addition to Professor McCaskill, two Temple University law students, Michael Buttman and Izai Martinez, have also joined as advisers.

“I think they will help the club greatly, because he[McCaskill] is such a skilled and experienced international litigator and professor, and so we’re very fortunate to have him help us in our first official year as a club,” Mr. Douglas said, expressing deep gratitude for Mr. McCaskill’s skill and advice. There is no doubt about it that with Mr. McCaskill, Mock Trial has a bright future ahead of it for it’s very first year as a club.
