Oimachi Lines Shut Down
Many commuters awoke on a hectic Monday morning as a major train collision and derailment on the Den-En-Toshi and Oimachi Lines brought transportation to a halt. The incident, which occurred during Japan’s early rush hour, left thousands of metro users stranded, including many students from SMIS. With trains suspended for several hours, students scrambled to find alternative routes. Some opted for crowded buses, and others transferred through the Yamanote or Meguro Lines in a desperate attempt to make it to school on time. The disruption caused widespread delays, with many arriving late, turning what was normally a routine morning into one of chaos.

Among those affected was Mark Li, a high school sophomore who commutes daily from Odaiba to Futako-Tamagawa. “I usually take the Oimachi Line straight to school,” Mark explained, “but today I had to take the Rinkai Line to Osaki, transfer to the Meguro Line, and then switch again.” Other students shared similar experiences, describing packed trains and long detours. Normal service has resumed, leaving SMIS students relieved. Railway officials have confirmed that both the Den-En-Toshi and Oimachi Lines have been fully restored as of the present moment.
