This year, we introduced to a new nurse, nurse Bingham, and Nurse Kuroyanagi. Both of them have more than a lot of Nursing experience, and they are ready to help students out!
Say hello to Nurse Bingham!
Nurse Elssy Bingham has been a nurse since 1996, and lived in Okinawa for 10 years before coming to Tokyo. She worked in a hospital at the US naval base in Okinawa, then worked at Kubasaki High School. She also has experience working in the emergency room and in the US. She mentioned she wanted to be a nurse since she was a little girl because she wanted to help others. Her son attended St. Marys as a senior for a year and also did volunteer work here, which she enjoyed. Since the previous Nurse, Nurse Aratani retired last year, she was offered a position as a school nurse here. When asked how students should stay mentally and physically healthy, Nurse Bingham said “The number one way to stay healthy is to get plenty of rest. At least 8 hours a night. Stay hydrated. Also, Time management is super important so that you can get your athletics, homework, and studies and your rest altogether at once. Proper nutrition is also important. Breakfast every morning!” Overall, Nurse Bingham enjoys working at St. Mary and said that the students here are very polite, caring, and studious.
Say hello to Nurse Kuroyanagi!
Nurse Nozomu Kuroyanagi has been a nurse since 2005, working at a hospital in Itabashi. Nurse Kuroyanagi also has experience working in a theology school supporting the pastor, as well as working at the Nurse’s office in a small church. She said that it was very interesting to work there as a nurse since she got to meet and talk with people from diverse backgrounds. After that, she worked as a substitute nurse at Nishimachi International School for a year, since the Nurse was away for maternity leave. She knew about this school when the previous nurse at Nishimachi knew Nurse Aratani, who retired last year and joined this school back in February. Nurse Kuroyanagi said that this school is very busy, and many students visit the nurse’s office every day. Overall, she enjoys working with Nurse Bingham and is worth supporting the students here, since she can see their growth. A message from Nurse Kuroyanagi: “Always wear a helmet!!”
Both Nurse Bingham and Kuroyanagi are willing to help students out. If you need help, don’t hesitate to go to the Nurse’s office!
