The St. Mary’s Debate team marked its start on Wednesday, November 21, by hosting a competition with Sacred Heart International School, Seisen International School, American School in Japan, Tokyo International School, and K International School. There were five Junior Varsity Debate teams and five Varsity teams.
The five schools debated the questions if whether Japan should limit the number of tourists visiting major tourist destinations. All teams were assigned to either proposition, or opposition. Despite suffering multiple losses from both the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams, the debate teams learned valuable lessons and gained experience for improvement. The next debate competition will be on December 4, with an impromptu topic.
