St. Mary’s JV Soccer team had an impressive opener against Columbia International School (CIS) on November 24. Despite being their first match of the season, the team showed great effort during their match.
The team’s formation was solid 5-2-3-1, with Noah Ha (27) as a goalkeeper, with Ginta Fujinami (27), Yuki Fujinami (27), and Yuto Asahi (26) forming a strong center-back line. Supporting them on the wingbacks were Arihant Lodha (28) and Benjamin Finger (28). The midfielders were Ricky Dale (27) and Kento Takeuchi (28), while the forward trio was Shion Nakamura (27), Linya Hirasawa (27), and Oliver Worrall (27) at the very top.
The match was very tough as the opponents were physically advantaged compared to the players at St. Mary’s. Despite this, the St. Mary’s team showed magnificent chemistry and resilience, managing an impressive comeback to lead 2-1, with goals scored by Kento Takeuchi (28) and Max Macchaus (28). However, the opponents refused to back down, securing an equalizer in the game, ending it with a final score of 2-2.
Arihant Lodha (28), who is currently on St. Mary’s soccer team stated, “Even though our team has good chemistry, our players should refine their skills so that we can secure our first win on the next game,” emphasizing the team’s unity and the necessity of the players to practice different techniques in soccer.
