The St. Mary’s volleyball team came into Tuesday’s match with high hopes against ASIJ coming off their strong showing against KIST last week. The gym was packed with energy as the Titans looked to build on their success, with both the JV and Varsity taking the floor at home.
JV delivered another thriller with two close sets to take the win 27–25 and 25–23. Their composure in tight moments especially towards the end of sets and steady team play proved to be the key difference to wining.
Varsity followed up with a competitive showing but couldn’t find their finishing touch. Despite keeping both sets close, the Titans fell short with a score of 20–25 and 19–25. Joshua Knipfing a player on the varsity tea said, “Althought we tried super hard in the end we couldn’t come out on top.”
Now the varsity team looks forward to the Yujo Tournament hosted by ASIJ starting Thursday, where the Titans will aim to bounce back and show their resilience on a bigger stage.
