This year, St. Mary’s is welcoming a new teacher to our counseling team—Ms. Sarah Marwood, who has already made quite an impression on students and staff when asked how has St. Mary’s been so far she said, “It has been amazing and welcoming. The students have been incredibly helpful!”
Before joining St. Mary’s, Ms. Marwood was a counselor at Ivy Collegiate Academy in Taiwan, a boarding school that Unlike St. Mary’s houses both boys and girls. Moving to Japan and St. Mary’s was a leap as “It was a unique experience,” she shared, “but after ten years, I was ready for something new” and jumped at the opportunity when it arose.
Mrs. Marwood has always been passionate about helping students, guiding them as they navigate the tricky levels of high school, and figure out what’s next. Outside of school, she enjoys cooking, and also comes from a close-knit family, with two younger sisters—one in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica and the other studying in College.
When asked about her plans for St. Mary’s, she admits she’s still figuring it out, but she’s eager to continue growing the counseling program. With her experience and enthusiasm, it’s clear that Ms. Marwood is ready to make a lasting impact at St. Mary’s.
