St. Mary’s Secures Home Victory in “Yokota Dual”

Tight Matches and Strong Performances Highlight the Titans’ First Home Meet of the Season.

St. Mary’s opened its home season with a solid overall win against Yokota in a dual that brought strong energy to the gym. While the final score ended up wide because Yokota forfeited several weight classes, the matches actually wrestled were much closer and showed real fight on both sides.

Coach Yabui mentioned that Yokota performed better than they usually do, making this dual more challenging than expected. Many of the bouts were competitive, with wrestlers having to stay calm, adjust quickly, and battle through tough positions.

On the mat, St. Mary’s wrestlers delivered when it counted, earning important wins across multiple weight classes and showing good technique. Competing at home for the first time this season added pressure, but the team rose to the moment and kept control throughout the meet.

Even with some uneven lineup spots, the wrestled matches proved that St. Mary’s could win on skill alone. Taking the victory in the first home dual was an important step for the squad and gave them confidence heading into the rest of the season.
