From February 2 to February 4, the team traveled to Korea to compete in the Far East tournament at Camp Humphreys. The event was competitive and intense, and the team delivered a strong performance. In the individual tournament, the team placed third overall. Five wrestlers advanced to the finals, which was more than any other school at the tournament. Ryan M.(’27), Ryusei K.(’29), Jimin K.(’26), Kentaro Y.(’28), and Carlo C.(’28) all made it to the finals.

The duals tournament was another highlight of the weekend. One of the most impressive matches came against Kinnick, a team expected to win. St. Mary’s unexpectedly defeated Kinnick, which helped secure a second-place finish in the duals. This win showed the team’s depth, preparation, and ability to perform under pressure.

A standout moment of the tournament was Kentaro winning Far East Champion for the first time as a sophomore. This achievement was a major milestone and a proud moment for the program. Although the team did not win the overall title, the tournament helped build strong friendships and develop character through tough competition.

After spending the entire season trying to stay under their designated weight class, the athletes celebrated together by eating their famous sandwiches and enjoying a large Korean dinner. Looking ahead, the goal for next season is to bring home both banners. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are motivated and ready to compete at a high level next year.
