From April 16–20, the St. Mary’s High School rugby team was going to Guam for the 2026 Rugby Tour. The trip included games, team bonding, and new experiences, and many players were excited.
There had been a change to 7’s rugby instead of 15-a-side because the Guam high school season had already ended. This worked well for St. Mary’s since they had 14 players and could make their own team. Around six teams were expected to play, making the competition more exciting.
The trip also included training, beach time, and activities like outrigger canoe paddling. Even though it was meant to be fun, students were expected to follow school rules and represent St. Mary’s properly.

However, the trip was cancelled after flights to Guam were grounded due to a Level 5 typhoon hitting the island. With the severe weather making travel unsafe, the entire tournament was called off. Many players and staff were disappointed, especially after weeks of preparation, but safety had to come first.
