Freshman reporter, and assistant editor, Jonathan (’29) is the first student this school year to hit the 25 published story milestone. Class publisher, and teacher, Mr. Douglas explained that Jonathan is an “…exceptional journalist, rising in his first year from reporter to assistant editor.” He went on to elaborate on how Jonathan is an eager journalist who never misses a chance to take on an interesting challenge.
When asked what he liked about being a reporter Jonathan joked that he sometimes feels “he learns more being a reporter than he does as a student.” He is particularly proud of his article on the efforts to preserve the Shanghainese language in his native China. He was particularly pleased by that story because he “..got the opportunity to share my heritage.”
After St. Mary’s Jonathan is unsure if he would like to pursue a career in arts–writing, or film making, or perhaps in marketing. As a rising sophomore he has a lot of time yet to decide.
