Ever wanted to unlock your full creative potential in writing beyond the classroom and impress others? If so, the literature club has got you. Recently founded and led by high school student Mirai, the club focuses on fostering analytical skills and creative writing, making it the perfect opportunity for those who want to focus on creative and analytical writing without the constraints of grades and rubrics.
About the club
As written above, the literature club focuses on fostering analytical thinking and creativity. Mirai, the leader, hopes to submit essays and creative projects to competitions. “We plan to do film and book discussions, peer reviews, and competitions like the John Locke Essay Competition and local writing contests. We also hope to participate in events like Design Festa,” Mirai said.
What does a typical meeting of the club look like? During these meetings, students choose a random English word and write a full story based on that word. For example, Salman is currently working on a story inspired by the word “moss.” In addition to storytelling, members also select specific texts to analyze, focusing on a prompt or guided question to enhance their analytical skills.
When asked about what students should expect from this club, Mirai emphasized the importance of constructive feedback. “Students should expect to share their ideas openly, accept constructive criticism, and step outside their creative comfort zones. It can be challenging, but it helps people grow as writers and thinkers,” Mirai explained.
The club is open to anyone who enjoys reading, writing, watching films, or wants to build confidence in sharing their creative ideas with others.
Overall, this club not only helps students develop essential skills for their English classes but also allows them to experience the joy of writing while strengthening both their creativity and analytical thinking.
