He wakes up at 7:15 to begin his school day. For breakfast, he keeps it simple and practical, usually eating an onigiri while heading to school. The quick meal gives him enough energy to start the morning without feeling too full for classes and baseball later in the day.
During the school day, he works to balance his academics with his priorities of being a baseball player. Because practices and games take up much of his time after school, he tries to stay ahead of his schoolwork whenever possible. “I make sure to finish most of my work on the weekends and prepare for upcoming tests at least a week in advance,” he explains. Even with careful planning, he admits that distractions can sometimes get in the way. Like many students, he occasionally struggles with “doom scrolling,” but he continues to push himself to stay disciplined so that both his grades and baseball performance do not suffer.
Looking ahead to the season, he has clear goals for both himself and the team. One of his main ambitions is to help the team win the majority of its games this year. In the first game, he started on the mound with a solid 0-run pitch. Beyond results, he also hopes to support the younger players on the roster. “I want to train the freshmen so they can become better players for next year,” he says. He shares his clear goal and passion with the St. Mary’s baseball team, ensuring the team is fine after he graduates. His competitive target for the team is also ambitious: placing at least in the top three in the Far East tournament.
After games, recovery becomes the priority. He spends time stretching to loosen his muscles and prevent injury, then takes a shower before settling down for the evening. Once he arrives home, his focus shifts back to schoolwork. He studies first, then eats dinner around 10 p.m., making sure to review notes for tests or finish the day’s assignments.
Even after dinner, the work is not finished. He returns to studying to prepare for upcoming classes and tests, then finally goes to sleep. Balancing baseball and academics requires discipline and time management, but through preparation and commitment, he continues to pursue both his athletic and academic goals.
