A project commenced by Jonathan (’29), Kenjiro (’28), Joshua (’28), and Drake (’27), where you can ask questions about what Middle School, High School, and College/University is like. Open to all students at St. Mary’s International School, answers will be posted biweekly.

Jonathan (’29), Assistant Editor

Jonathan (’29) is a freshman at St. Mary’s, who arrived in Tokyo from Shanghai 6 years ago with his family, just before the COVID Pandemic. He is excited to be part of the Diplomat as an aspiring journalist and writer, having shown an interest in short story writing since his Middle School days. His hobbies include retro gaming, history, reading the news, surfing through Wikipedia, and videomaking. He is currently a member of the History Society Varsity Team, the High School Student Council, Junior Varsity Jazz Band, Model United Nations and the HS Cross Country team.

Kenjiro Koya (, Staff Writer

Kenjiro Koya is a sophomore staff writer for the school newspaper who focuses on sports, music, and community news. Kenjiro is a 11 year veteran at St. Mary’s.

Joshua Knipfing (, Staff Writer

Joshua Knipfing He has been in St.Marys for two years and is a first year staff writer for the St. Marys Diplomat. He has lived in Hong Kong and Shanghai for half his life, and the other half in Japan. He is passionate and knowledgeable about sports, movies, and gaming and is excited to share about it all.

Drake Huang, Staff Writer

Drake Huang is excited to be working with The Diplomat. He moved from Taiwan 2 years ago and has been apart of the St Mary’s International School community since 9th grade. Drake enjoys spending time with friends and family, while also staying proactive with academics and sports. He looks forward to contributing his ideas and creativity to The Diplomat.
