On Saturday, December 6th, from 2 am, the annual Elementary Christmas Concert will take place in the gymnasium. From classic chorals to funky Christmas songs, boys in grades 1-5 will ensure that this concert is filled with joy and laughter.
What to know about the concert (and special highlights!)
This annual concert isn’t just a concert. It’s also a day of community gathering, where students, teachers, and faculty all come together to immerse themselves in the joy of music. Accompanied, all boys from grades 1-5 will perform a few festive songs from their respective grade groups. “The concert will conclude with a joint performance featuring all elementary students. The concert will include solo singers and instrumentalists as well, and will be accompanied by our own virtuosic Ms. Tanizaki.” The grand finale of the concert will include all elementary school students (RP-5) signing on stage, so stay tuned for that as well!
Behind the scenes: preparation and challenges
The elementary school students would not be able to deliver the holiday magic without the help of Ms. Hunsicker. “Each year, we begin preparing for the Christmas concert toward the end of October. Students rehearse in music class, developing their music literacy, vocal technique, ensemble, aural, and performance skills. Students practice these skills while learning and memorizing the notes and lyrics of their songs. It’s a lot of work!” Ms Hunsicker said. She also stated that one of the key challenges is organizing and scheduling the concert. This concert would also not be possible without the help and hard work of other faculty members and the maintenance staff, so thank them if you see them at the concert!
Overall, the effort and hard work of students, Ms. Hunsicker, faculty, and maintenance staff will guarantee a joyful, magical Christmas concert, showcasing talent and cheer. From kindergarten students to 5th-grade students’ performances, the entire concert will reflect creativity and, most importantly, bring the joy of music to everyone.
