On December 4th, the Student Council held its monthly assembly in the cafeteria. During this assembly, one student from each high school grade level shared what they are thankful for.
For the freshmen, Salman Dewan spoke about how grateful he is that St. Mary’s welcomed him with open arms as a new student this year. For the sophomores, Raizo (28) talked about his appreciation for his friends and the opportunities St. Mary’s provides. For the juniors, Aahan (27) shared his gratitude for the choir class and how it has helped him grow as a leader. He also thanked the choir director, Mr. Drahos, for always making time to support him. Lastly for the seniors, Student Council Vice President Jimin(26) spoke about his gratitude for the wrestling team and how the sport has taught him discipline and commitment.
This assembly reminded everyone that you don’t need a holiday dedicated to being thankful, to think about what you’re grateful for. It’s very easy for students to get caught up in school, sports, and everything else going on, but it’s always important to thank the people and things that make life better.
