Have you ever imagined various fairy tales combined into one single story? The musical Into the Woods brings this imagination to the stage, performed by the Tri-School Musical Team.
The musical Into the Woods interweaves several Brothers Grimm fairy tales, exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. The main characters are brought from several fairy tales, including Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Little Red Riding Hood. Following the journey of these familiar characters, Into the Woods explores the consequences of desires, the complexities of parent-child relationships, and the necessity of community over individualism.

The production will take place on April 10, 11, and 12, with performances scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. The show runs for about two hours, including a short break.

Behind the scenes, a large production team is working together to bring the story to the stage. Ms. Steel, the advisor for the scenic crew, plays a big role in creating the scenes. Her team builds big scenic pieces such as houses, trees, and even the baker’s oven: basically, everything on stage that is big.Other staff members also contribute to the musical. Ms. Twohig, the elementary library assistant, is responsible for advising the props crew. Unlike the scenic crew, the props team is in charge of smaller objects that are used in the play. Ms. Stevens and Ms. You are both in the Publicity team, which promotes the play to the school. Band and Choir from the three schools also participate in the musical. They will be performing live during the play. Furthermore, Students will be conducting the sound and light effects in stage.

Ms. Steel highlights that the Spring Musical is based on a children’s fairy tale. Compared to last year’s Fall Play, Our Town, Into the Woods has a much more playful atmosphere and is enjoyable for children. With a blend of creativity, teamwork, and classic storytelling, Into the Woods promises to be an exciting and memorable performance for all.
