Students from St. Mary’s International School recently participated in the ASIJ Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, a three day event that brought together over 130 delegates from international schools worldwide.
The conference featured many committee sessions across three days, beginning with an opening ceremony and ending with a closing ceremony and celebration. Delegates took part in a variety of committees, including DISEC, WHO, SOCHUM, UNODC, SPECPOL, HRC, UNCSTD, Crisis, and UNSC, each focusing on different global issues.
St. Mary’s students performed strongly, earning several awards. Louis and Peter received Best Delegate, while Johnny and Eddie were named Most Diplomatic. Kai and Keiichi earned Honorable Mentions, and Qifan received the Four Year Award.
Beyond the awards, the conference highlighted the value of MUN. Students developed skills in public speaking, negotiation, and collaboration while engaging with real world global challenges. The extended three day format allowed for deeper debate and more meaningful cooperation between delegates.
The results reflect both the dedication of the students and the continued growth of the MUN program at St. Mary’s.
