On May 25, Dominic(‘30) was announced as the ambassador for the 2026-2027 freshman ambassador. One of the biggest changes for the next academic year will be the arrival of the class of 2030 into high school for the very first time. Leading the class of 2030 as an ambassador next year, Dominic will take on an important role during a major transition period for the school.
With many new students entering high school, expectations for student leadership will be high. Dominic’s role will involve helping guide students, representing the students, and shaping the grade atmosphere. What goals and ideas does Dominic have for next year? How do students who supported and did not support his campaign feel about the election results? What are the thoughts of the other candidates who competed for the position?
With the official results for the ambassador spot just released in the St. Mary’s newspaper, The Diplomat, the results show that the election was a tight one. The results published on the Diplomat show the runner-up candidate, Itsuki(‘30). Itsuki was a strong candidate for this position, even saying, “I thought I would win, but I did not win. I felt humbled.” When Dominic was elected as ambassador and announced on the morning speaker, Itsuki was shocked, thinking that he would win. Itsuki, still showing good sportsmanship, “gave him a firm handshake, and congratulated him numerous times.” However, deep inside, he thinks that “The system is unfair, and it is based on popularity. Only shows the paragraph of the contenders, and is overall not fair.” Even with his firm beliefs in the system, Itsuki believes Dominic will be a great ambassador next year, while still believing he himself “could do better.” As the runner-up ambassador, Itsuki had high expectations for Dominic as the upcoming ambassador, and says he “needs to prove his resilience, and show the care to take care of the new kids.” Itsuki believes he needs to be “willing to sacrifice his time” and “care for the new students” in order to make a good ambassador.
Moving forward, there is Rui(‘30), a voter of Dominic. Rui voted Dominic 5 stars, saying he was “very happy for Dominic” and believes “ Dominic is a good person for the job.” Rui argues that although the other candidates were strong, like Ichimaru (3rd place ambassador class of 2030), in the end, Dominic was the best pick for the spot due to his “Stuco experience”. Although Rui does point out that his vote has bias as he is “close with Dominic” and not close with the other candidates. As a future ambassador, Rui wishes Dominic the best of luck. Some feedback Rui gave on Dominic was that “he should prioritize making the new kids feel welcome, and make them feel like they are well integrated into the school learning environment.” He believes that kindness and integrity are the key to making a good ambassador.
On the other hand, there is Yasu(‘30), one of the voters of Ichimaru for ambassador. Yasu gave Ichimaru 5 stars, stating that out of all the other candidates, “I know he can be good, and he was the best.” Yasu also believes that a good ambassador needs to be compassionate and understanding to new students, and leaned towards Ichimaru in this election as he believes that Ichimaru is well-suited for this role. Yasu also firmly believes that Dominic should be “family-friendly.” Although when Dominic was announced as the ambassador over the speaker, Yasu “didn’t care at all” about the election results. Even as a strong supporter of Ichimaru, in the end, Yasu congratulated Dominic for the win, and now does not “really care about the votes” as it is set and over.
A survey was held on June 2, 2026, where the entirety of the rising freshmen answered 97 questions. One of the questions was, “What are some values you think needs to be focused as ambassador?” The survey results showed that 34.4% of the grade believed that kindness is the most important value that should be focused on as an ambassador, and 26.6% of the grade thinks commitment is the most important. These results from the survey not only highlight what makes a good ambassador, but also give Dominic a chance to review what he should focus on as a future ambassador. Hearing from Dominic, he says that “I can uphold this responsibility” as he is “good with new kids in the past years.”
With many students wondering what Dominic’s main priorities are, he says he has lots of things in mind and plans to do. Things like making the school more welcoming, fun, and learning-friendly are only a few things Dominic says he is planning to do. More importantly, he says he wants to “make more friends with the new kids with unique talents.” With all these things in Dominic’s mind, he still feels “bad for Ichimaru and Itsuki,” but now focuses on the upcoming responsibilities that await him as a future ambassador.
For the class of 2030, freshman year will not only be the first year of high school, but also a year where Dominic will have to step up as an ambassador. The stakes are high for him with the new environment, students, and standards. As an ambassador, Dominic promises us the harmony of the school. His leadership and openness aim to strengthen connections within the grade, and with his commitment, many students hope for a memorable, smooth, and welcoming freshman year.
