The Artscape Exhibition 2026 took place this spring at Temple University Japan Campus in Sangenjaya, making the switch from the Children’s Castle on Aoyama-dori where it was traditionally hosted at. This event brought together artwork from students across 16 international schools in Japan. Students from St. Mary’s were among those in the exhibition, with both Middle School and High School artwork displayed throughout the event.
Artscape is an annual international school art exhibition in Japan that was founded over 20 years ago by international school art teachers including Ursula Bartlett Imadegawa, Steve Tootell, and Stelarc to give students more opportunities to publicly display their artwork and gain exhibition experience.
The exhibition displayed a wide variety of artistic styles, showcasing the creativity and talent. From paintings to unique pieces, the exhibition gave students the opportunity to share their work in a public setting. Among the displayed works were 3d pieces by St. Mary’s High School students Michael (28), Ken (28), Peter (28), and Donovan(29), Kei (29) which were featured in the lower section of the school’s exhibition area. Middle School students represented in the exhibition included Grade 6 students Sena, Kazuki, Koki, William, and Yura; Grade 7 students Spencer, Edo, and Alex; and Grade 8 students Sanji, Jihwan, Yuya, and Josen.

This year’s exhibition was held during Golden Week and remained open until May 4. The change in location to Temple University Japan Campus provided a larger exhibition space and allowed visitors from around Tokyo. A digital version of the exhibition was also made available here (https://www.flipsnack.com/artscape/artscape-2026), although the in person exhibition included additional works not featured digitally.
Artscape 2026 served as a celebration of student creativity and collaboration between international schools.
