On March 13th, St. Mary’s Track and Field team departed to Taipei to compete in the Tiger Classic meet held by Taipei American School. Over 480 athletes from about 20 different schools across Asia competed against each other. The top 3 athletes from each event were awarded medals, and St. Mary’s athletes made a strong impression across multiple events, setting personal bests and securing top finishes.

One of the standout performances of the day came from the 4x100m Relay team, which included Noah T. (’27), Teiju A. (’25), Koki O. (’25), and Tyler M. (’25). The team executed their baton exchanges flawlessly and displayed exceptional teamwork, allowing them to finish in first place and win the gold medal.
In addition to the relay team’s triumph, several other St. Mary’s athletes had impressive performances. In the 3000m, four runners placed in the top 15, with Yuto T. (’27) leading the charge, finishing 4th out of 46 competitors and just missing a podium spot. Tyler D (’27) impressed in the 800m, securing 11th place out of 57 runners. Koki O. (’27) had a strong showing in the 100m Finals, finishing 5th out of 58 runners, and followed it up with a 10th place finish in the 200m. Ramon H. (’26) also impressed in the 400m, where he placed 15th out of 49 competitors, setting a personal best and proving his resilience. Every athlete on the team contributed their best efforts, making the meet a successful and memorable experience for St. Mary’s.

The relay team’s gold medal performance was a highlight of the meet, showcasing the depth and talent of St. Mary’s sprinting squad. The win was especially significant, as the team had to battle through tough competition from various schools across Asia. Their success in the 4x100m Relay not only earned them a well-deserved podium finish but also set the tone for the rest of the competition, motivating their teammates and showing that they were ready to compete at the highest level. The team’s strong performance highlighted the importance of both individual talent and team coordination, and their gold medal was a proud moment for St. Mary’s Track and Field.
