Saturday, February 28th at Camp Zama was the first track and field meet of the season. Schools from across the Kanto Plain gathered to compete, including St Mary’s, ASIJ, ZAMA, Yokota, Edgren, CAJ, Kinnick, MC Perry, and EJ Kings.
In the 100 meters dash, David King, from Camp Zama, took first place with 11.41 seconds, then followed by Linya Hirasawa, from St Mary’s, with an impressive time of 11.60 seconds.
Next, in the 1600 meter run, Matthew Rowland, from Yokota, came first with a time of 4:42.68. He was followed by Noah Takato, from St Mary’s, with 4:45.39, while Davis from St Mary’s placed fourth with a time of 4:46.39.
Finally, in the 3200 meter run, Matthew Rowland from Yokota once again finished first with a time of 10:18.39. Followed by Tyler Davis from St Mary’s, finishing with a time of 10:19.42, and coming in fourth was Noah Takato from St Mary’s with a time of 10:37.78.
Overall, the first track and field meet of the season was a strong start for St Mary’s. Several athletes placed near the top of their events, demonstrating impressive performances against tough competition from across the Kanto Plain. The results from this meet highlight the team’s depth as they set a promising foundation for the upcoming meets and competitions later in the season.
