Saturday, April 11 at Camp Zama was Track & Field’s Kanto Finals, which is the last meet of the season before Far East. Schools from across Kanto Plain gathered to compete, including St Mary’s, ASIJ, Seisen, ISSH, ZAMA, Yokota, Edgren, Kinnick, MC Perry, EJ Kings, and Tokyo International.
First, in the 400 meters run, Noah T. (Yr.11), broke the school record with a very impressive time of 50.79 seconds. Also, Benjamin F. qualified for Far East in the 400 meters with a qualifying time of 52.95 seconds.
Next, in the 1600 meters run, Tyler D. , from St Mary’s, finished 2nd in the event with a time of 4:43.41. Tyler was then followed by Yuto Takeda, who finished 5th in the event, with a season best of 4:49.02.
Finally, in the 3200 meters run, Mughil R. , from St Mary’s, finished first in the event with an impressive time of 9:55.32, which was then followed by Tyler D. and Yuto T. , from St Mary’s, who both recorded an impressive time of 10:10.56 and 10:30.27.
Overall, the last track and field meet of the season for St. Mary’s was nothing but impressive, with several athletes placing top of their events and achieve in their personal and season best performance. Coming to an end with the last meet of the season, it is the last time for many athletes to run for the last time in their high school career.
