February 1 to February 4, Kinnick hosted a Far East Division 1 tournament including teams such as, St Mary’s International School, Kadena High School, Kubasaki High School, Humphreys High School, American School in Japan, St Maur International School, and American School off Bangkok Green Valley. The event welcome teams from across many regions to compete at a high level and create an atmosphere of unity, sportsmanship, and friendships.
Far East Basketball is not only about winning games, but also about promoting respect, teamwork, and growth. Throughout the tournament, teams have chances to build new relationships and strengthen bonds with teammates.
Last year, St Mary’s Varsity suffered a heartbreaking loss in the finals against Kinnick, falling just short of a championship in double overtime. That defeat has remained a strong source of motivation, driving the team to train even harder and return with greater determination this time around. With better focus, experience, and unity, St Mary’s entered this year’s tournament eager to pursue redemption, making the event more meaningful.
